Melting Pounds WITHOUT Melting Down... A Blueprint for Weight Loss

Have You Ever struggled with feeling like you are on the hampster wheel trying to lose weight? Stubborn weight loss and low energy are the two things we hear people struggle with most in our office.

Let's talk about weight loss and how to melt pounds without melting down... The "Secret Sauce" isn't really a secret... It's a plan. That means you do the following things:

  1. Evaluate where you are? What is the problem - Do you need to lose 10 lbs? 35 lbs? Do you need to reduce body fat? Sometimes this means you will need to do a big of digging if you think there is more than just weight loss involved. That is where some lab testing may come in helpful (we will talk about more on that in our next blog). But, you need a starting point

  2. Where do you want to go? What are your goals? Where do you want to be and what is your time frame. We find a 3 month timeframe really reasonable for most health-related goals. It's long enough to see progress, but we don't lose focus. Of course, the goal is long-term lifestyle change, but you need to start somwhere and measure progress

  3. What is the plan to get from A to B? This need to address your diet and proper supplementation, movement (exercise in some form) and lifestyle factors like sleep and stress. Written plans are best and it is also helpful to consider adding tools to help you succeed. Things like macro trackers for calories and macros (we like the Carb Manager app) can be helpful as well.

  4. Community. Surround yourself with those who will inspire you and hold you accountable.

  5. Re-evaluate. How did you do? Did you meet your goal? How can you improve and maintain your results?

Those are the things we build into a plan when we work with our patients. We wanted to share because so many people struggle with weight loss. Obesity is the health crisis of our time. There is hope, however, and you can win this battle!
